Nico Rosberg says he is happy for his robust defensive driving tactics in the Bahrain Grand Prix to be discussed this weekend to help clarify what is considered acceptable on-track behaviour in the future.

The Mercedes driver came under fire after aggressively blocking Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton during the Bahrain GP.

The subject is expected to be a major topic of discussion between drivers and officials this weekend, and Rosberg told reporters in the Barcelona paddock on Thursday that he had no problem with that.

"Two of the drivers raised their concerns about it so we need to discuss it," he said. "If there was a danger which I didn't cause on purpose then we need to implement rules so that it doesn't arise again.

"It is driver safety and we need to do the best we can so that we can move forward. We could look at implementing more rules in that situation because it is not very clear, but it can be looked at.

"Rules such as a car width [when a driver is moving back towards the racing line after making a block] is very good because we need that clear situation to penalise drivers when there is a need to."

The German added that if he was put in the same situation again he would not behave any differently. But he did concede that asphalt run-off around the Sakhir circuit played a part in his actions.

"Of course if there had been the barriers at Monaco it would have been a different story, yes," he said. "Then again the guys behind would have backed off a lot earlier.

"In that situation I judged it to be harsh but fair so it was harsh but within the rules. And I didn't judge that I was putting my competitors in danger."

Zanimljiva usporedba, Nico sad ima isti broj gp trka kao i ćale mu Keke. Tu su rezultati za obojicu, ćale za sada puno bolji naravno.

meni se čini da je danas Rosberg mogao puno više al ga je tim zajebo. Prvi ulazak su ga povukli prerano čim je dostigo (ne sjećam se više kog, možda Grosejana) kako bi ga spasili gubitka vremena u borbi međutim izašao je iza, opet imao raznih borbi i duge stintove u kojima je više morao čuvat gume i rastezat nego jurit. Vjerujem da su ga pustili duže u prvom stintu da bi vjerojatno zadnji stint bio jurnjava za 2. mjesto

Zanimljivo: Rosberg, koji se tako rijetko spominje i često je uglavnom nezamjetan, u zadnjih je 5 utrka uz Vettela skupio najveći broj bodova.

Nico Rosberg thinks his chances of a charge through the field in the Belgian Grand Prix are limited because of the struggles Mercedes has faced this weekend.

Even though his team-mate Michael Schumacher came from the back of the grid to finish fifth at Spa last year, Rosberg believes it will be much harder to make such an impact this time around from his 23rd place on the grid.

"It will be easier for me to overtake, that is for sure," said Rosberg, when asked by AUTOSPORT about his realistic hopes of a recovery drive. "With a good start, some luck, and good strategy, the aim has to be to get a point, but it is difficult.

"Not only am I far behind, but we are also just not quick enough over the weekend. I will try for sure though.

"If I get lucky with a safety car and everything, then things are possible - but the problem is that our car is not as fast as last year at this track at the moment.

"Last year we were quicker and that is the main issue, which is why it is going to be more difficult."

Team principal Ross Brawn believes that Mercedes has to make the most of any opportunities that come its way.

"It is always eventful racing here and last year we had a safety car that came out at a very opportune time for us," he said. "So we will be looking to take the benefit we can out of any of those sorts of events.

"How you are able to use the tyres over a longer run will be very important, and what drivers have been able to do in qualifying won't necessarily translate to what they are able to do in a race.

"In a race it is more consistent conditions with tyre temperatures built up, so we are optimistic. Michael has a history of being able to have good races in these circumstances, particularly here, and we are optimistic he can do it.

"Nico needs a bit more time in the car here, but after a few laps I am sure he will settle in and will be looking to take advantage of any situations that develop.

Nico Rosberg sees opportunities for Mercedes to deliver a decent haul of points in the Korean Grand Prix after both cars qualified in the top 10.

As part of Mercedes' renewed push forward following the introduction of its downwashed-exhausts in Singapore, Rosberg will start ninth on the grid at Yeongam with Michael Schumacher one place further back.

And although Rosberg concedes that his team is not able to challenge the main title contenders, he reckons it can still finish higher in Sunday's race.

"Lately we have been similar qualifying [pace] to the race, so it is not so easy for us to move forward - but of course we will try and take the opportunity," Rosberg said.

"With a good start and a good strategy, moving up a couple of places is possible. And, if we can target top seven, that will be a very good position for where we are at the moment."

Rosberg believes the chances of making progress in the race could be boosted by the good speed his car has shown in the first sector of the lap - which is made up of two long straights.

"We were fastest in sector one," he said. "Maybe it will help a little bit with overtaking. It can only be a benefit.

"Overtaking should be possible tomorrow because the tyres are on the edge. There will a lot of graining on the front and degradation on the rear, so things could get very interesting."
