Ferrari finds new front wing is an improvement

Ferrari have used their new front wing debuted at the final Barcelona test throughout the entire Australian GP weekend, showing it confirmed the new part to be an improvement for the car. When comparing this to last year, where the Scuderia had various new parts tested that eventually failed to work in real life, the new parts coming from Toyota's wind tunnel appear to be working straight away. This alone is a great sign for Ferrari that will build confidence within the team.

The new wing was tested at Barcelona and features a different endplate, a wider and differently shaped stacked element and detail changes on the inner edges of the white, standing flaps. Altogether, it still is surprising to see Ferrari run a front wing without any bulges in the lower profile, something that is not seen on any other car at the moment.

...ovo je sve izvučeno iz "Marce" pa tko zna koliko je istine u svemu...no da se takve igre igraju kod svih većih momčadi gotovo je sigurno...sada samo treba vidjeti da li je ovo stvarno rečeno, u kojem kontekstu i na koji način...mada i da je bilo tako sumnjam da će se bilo što dogoditi...

po meni je to čak i logično. Nisu oni njemu branili utrkivanje, ali su (pošto je ipak bio član njihove akademije, dakle dijelom i njov vozač) od njega tražili da bude oprezan kad se utrkuje da nebi izbacio Ferrarija van. Opet manje ekstremno nego RB koji STR-ovim vozačima niti ne dopušta borbu sa RB-ovim. No opet, to su dvije ekipe istog vlasnika pa je donekle i logično...ajme, ubije me ova logika

btw, izgleda da se Ferrari malo igra sa mapama rada motora. Ovako je Massin Ferrari zvučao na treninzima na kočenju. Član f1technical foruma koji je postavio video kaže da niti Alonsov Ferrari niti ikoji drugi bolid nije slično ovome zvučao

hlađenje je zapravo sekundarna funkcija tog otvora...primarna funkcija je da se struja zrala zadrži priljubljena uz bolid da bi kasnije bila bolje upotrebljiva.

Ono što meni jedino pada na pamet zašto ju ne vidimo na bolidu: vjerojatno ili nije razvijeno do kraja ili je to samo bila proba za neku sličnu soluciju koju imaju namjeru uvesti u nekoj od budućih utrka

Ferrari busy working out strategies with rain in mind

Ferrari had a good day with both drivers competitive throughout both Friday practice sessions. The team will now look to further improve the car set-up and attempt to determine what are the possible race strategies for Sunday.

Fernando Alonso: "Today, the car worked well in all conditions and that is very good news for us. This circuit is more representative than Australia for evaluating the car's performance and so it was important to understand here today if the positive feelings from the winter were not just an illusion. On my lap on the Medium tyres, I did not have the right balance, otherwise I could have managed to improve, as I did on the Hards and I could probably have been on the "front row." Now we must see how tomorrow goes, when it could rain at any moment and on a track where tyre degradation is much higher than in Melbourne. With a high number of pit stops likely, a car that works better in the race than in qualifying could be an advantage. However, tomorrow we will try and do our best to get a place on the front row, because, as usual, the start, strategy and pit stops will hold the key".

Felipe Massa: "Overall, it was a good day, even if the rain that arrived for the end of the second session cost us some valuable time, when it came to comparing the two compounds over a long run. The car responded well in both sessions and, as for the tyres Pirelli brought here, I felt much more comfortable on the Mediums that we'd already used in Australia. We now have a long evening to work on understanding what the real behaviour of the tyres is, because that is definitely what can make the difference and could make us more competitive, as we prepare for both qualifying and the race".

Pat Fry, Technical director: "Today's rain complicated our programme a bit, but overall, it was a positive Friday. As we saw in Australia, here again the key factor will be understanding tyre behaviour. Usually at this track, you need one more stop, but it's still too early to say. This evening we will tackle the complex task of analysing the data because the rain arrived at the least opportune moment, just as Fernando and Felipe were doing a comparison of the two compounds. In the morning we managed to complete our planned programme, making the most of the better conditions to find the ideal set-up on both cars. Having tried various combinations, we think we know what direction to take for tomorrow's qualifying".

Massa ima dobru priliku sutra.Mislim da ce Vettel pokusati zatvoriti Alonsa na startu.Ako bude suva utrka lako bi bilo moguce 1-2 Ferrarija,bude li pak kisa RB je dobro brzi od nas zbog boljeg downforcea a mislim i Merc.Dobro je sto su Lotusi tako daleko.

Bolid je konkurentan i na suhom i na mokrom - problem je što je Red Bull space shuttle po mokrom.

ja uopće ne mislim da je na mokrom manje konkurentan, pošto je to bila jedna od jačih strana F2012 na kojem je F138 baziran. Ja samo mislim da oni nisu uspjeli odvoziti čisti krug na mokrom (pri tome mislim da su sami griješili), kao što i nisu uspjeli pogoditi da za par sekundi uđu u zadnji krug, dakle da imaju najbolje uvjete na stazi koja se suši
