pa koliko ja vidim ovo je evolucija prošlogodišnjeg modela, ali proše godine su imali problem straga ne naprijed

Newey je rekao da McLaren već dugo ima tradiciju niskog nosa bolida i da je to sasvim ok za njih. On to ne vidi kao neki nedostatak, a ako Newey tako kaže onda vjerujem da to ne može biti problem.

Hoću da budem drugačiji, pa stoga neću ostoju staviti na ignore listu

Momčadi upravo i podižu nos bolida kako bi protok zraka prema stražnjem dijelu, tj. prema podnici i difuzoru bio što čisitiji. Inače je za aerodinamiku prednjeg dijela niski nos povoljnije riješenje, ali kako je u F1 sve stvar kompromisa tako se malo žrtvuje aerodinamika naprijed da iza bude efikasnija. Q. But isn't the key to performance what is going on underneath the nose rather than on top anyway?
PL: Aerodynamically, yes. My model of it is, it is not that we have missed some trick. It is not a trick or a loophole that we did not spot. We have always known that you can lift your chassis there, but have chosen to not do it now. We did not do it before either, when there was not nearly the same constraint that you have now. That is the philosophy we have gone with.
We will never know if it is right or wrong. Some cars have longer wheelbases or shorter wheelbases. There is rarely a right answer in this stuff because it is a matter of what your philosophy is, what your sensitivities are, and where you put your effort. What is great about F1 is how it brings together competitors with teams of fantastically innovative people – who all work on their own independently and come up with answers that come from a different set of ideas, and different thinking and produce results that are so close. You look at our car and Red Bull Racing last year – they were rarely more than 0.1-0.2% different in terms of lap time. That is not a lot.
Yet, if you go and look at those cars and every detail, there are a thousand different things that make up that net performance, which are all taking different decisions. So you cannot look at one single thing and say, 'ah, that is why they are quicker than them'. It is one of a thousand things.

Off the record Hamilton is disappointed with the McLaren MP4-27:
Behind the scenes, 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton is quietly concerned about McLaren’s early performance with their 2012 Formula car, according to media reports.
Auto Motor und Sport reports that the first whiff of the Briton’s worry emerged last week, when the MP4-27 was tested over four days at Jerez.
Marca sports daily claims Hamilton confided to his former McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen at Jerez that he is “disappointed” with his new car.
“When I saw that all the other cars are high at the front, it did make me wonder if we had done the right thing,” the 2008 world champion, referring to the ‘step’ nose trend that McLaren has sidestepped, is quoted as saying.
Hamilton was quicker than his teammate Jenson Button at Jerez, with his 1.19 laptime set on Thursday close to Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull pace on the same day.
The previous day, however, Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber had been the quickest of the 2012 car runners in the RB8.
And when referring to his 1.19, Hamilton admitted that the lap was set while McLaren was being “aggressive”, implying that he was light on fuel.
If so, the MP4-27 is at least a full second off Lotus’ Jerez pace.
There are more clues: asked about the change in blown diffuser rules, Briton Hamilton said the MP4-27 is “difficult to control in the fast corners”.
That contrasts with Vettel’s comment that, “In the fast corners I don’t feel very much difference to before (in 2011)”.
On the record, he said: “I feel quite positive about where the car is at the moment and I’m confident that the guys can push it forward.
“You’ve got to remember that everyone is just focusing on their own programmes. It’s not a contest for who’s the fastest at the moment,” Hamilton insisted.
“Over the coming weeks we’ll get a better indication of where everyone is.”

Mah, prošlu zimu su napravili 0 km i bili su glavni izazivači RB-a, ovu zimu su već sad napravili više km nego prošlu, još imaju dva testiranja, točno i da auto sad je kanta, do prve utrke će ga sklepat da bude u 3 najbrža, uvjeren sam u to.

Da ti budem iskren, nikome ne želim nesreću i vjeruj mi više bih se radovao da Button osvoji naslov nego Alonso, navijač sam Ferrarija još samo u tragovima a to sve zbog dugogodišnje tradicije navijanja za njih u doba Schumija i Kimija a razočarao sam u njih nakon 2009.

Špekulacija ima na sve strane. Za RBR, McLaren i Ferrari sam do sada pročitao razne špekulacije, od toga da je auto raketa, do toga da će se boriti sa HRT-om na začelju. Jedina špekulacija koja mi se čini realnom vezano za McLaren je ta da su oni izgubili najviše zabranom EBD-a i "egzotičnih" mapa rada motora. Međutim izgubili su i drugi, pogotovo RBR. Vettel je rekao da osjeti dosta manje gripa na zadnjem kraju, ali da se brzo navikao na to. Realno je da svi imaju manje gripa na zadnjem kraju, samo je možda Hamilton to najglasnije rekao, što je raznoraznim piskaralima koji se predstavljaju kao novinari bio poticaj da napišu da je MP4-27 truba. Ni momčadi nisu 100% sigurne gdje su, a ne neki novinarčić. Tek je jedan test prošao i prerano je davati bilo kakve usporedbe i ocjene.

Zašto svi pod agresivnim smatraju da su imali malo goriva? Da li to može značiti da su bili agresivni prema novim gumama? Recimo natankaš bolid i dereš gume da vidiš kako se troše?
Biti drugi znači biti prvi među gubitnicima. Ayrton Senna.

To su senzori koji služe da bi momčad sastavila 3D sliku strujanja zraka na određenom dijelu bolida, usporedila to sa svojim CFD simulacijama i po potrebi kalibrirala simulacije.

Formula 1’s second test of the winter kicked off at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya today, with Lewis Hamilton taking on testing duties for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team.
Lewis’s day began with some initial data collection, including aero work on newer rubber before his engineers began a more comprehensive programme of tyre and set-up evaluation for the remainder of the morning.
After completing a number of shorter runs, focus in the afternoon turned to longer runs, with Lewis declaring himself pleased with the MP4-27’s behaviour, particularly in the high-speed corners.
“With more than 500km under our belt, this was an extremely productive day,” said team manager David Redding. “The car ran reliably and without problem all day and Lewis was happy with the car. Given the cooler temperatures we experienced today, we’re optimistic that we’re headed in the right direction with our tyre and set-up work for the start of the season.”
Za razliku od prošlogodišnjih testiranja, ove godine mi srce kuca puno mirnije. Ovolika kilometraža, nema problema...o brzini je preuranjeno govorit, ali sve djeluje obećavajuće.

Sve ide vrlo dobro...cini se da rade sve po planu
...a kaj se tice brzine, valjda se nece morat pravit grbavi (mozda ce svi drugi pokusat postat lijepi)

Sada se Lewis izjasnio da je zadovoljana kako se bolid ponaša u brzim zavojima a bilo je rečeno da se povjerio Kovalainenu da nije zadovoljan kako se bolid ponaša u brzim zavojima. Šta nek sad vjerujemo? Znam da su jedno bile "samo" glasine, a ovo gore je priopčenje za javnost ali svejedno...

Lewis Hamilton undertook another mile-crunching outing for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, clocking up 121 laps and more than 500km of running during the second day of pre-season testing at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya.
The focus for the morning was on data gathering and set-up evaluation before the team carried out a race-distance simulation in the afternoon.
Lewis said:
“To have completed more than 1000km in the past two days is incredibly encouraging – the whole team should feel proud.
“The car behaves really well in the high-speed corners – I think the baseline of our car is higher than it was last year – and it’s better overall at high-speed. It’s performing well in Turns Three and Nine, too.
“We don’t know the fuel-loads of the other cars, so it’s still hard to determine the pecking order. We didn’t bring any upgrades here, but our understanding of the car has developed since the test in Jerez. We’re learning more about how the tyres work, how the temperatures behave and how to balance the car using set-up. It’s been an extremely productive few days – and I think Jenson will continue to improve the car tomorrow.
“Now, I’m just looking forward to the final test – it’s where you get a really good feeling of where the car will be. It’s also exciting because it’s the last stop before the first race!”
