According to Brazilian media, Emerson will tomorrow announce that he will take part in the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, driving for AF Corse in the LMGTE Am class, driving a Ferrari 458 Italia.
The 67 year old (turning 68 in December) hasn’t seriously raced since 1996, when he suffered a career ending injury at the Michigan Marlboro 500 driving in the CART Championship. Since then, his links to motorsport haven’t dwindled, as he ran the Brazilian entry for A1 GP, as well as entering the short-lived Grand Prix Masters series and entering the Brazilian GT3 Cup with his brother.
The two time F1 World Champion also won the Indy 500 in 1989 & 1993, as well as podium finishes in 1988 and 1990.
LMGTE Pro Aston Martin driver Fernando Rees was delighted to hear that fellow Paulista Fittipaldi would return.
