London: Argentina, which last hosted a Formula One Grand Prix in 1998, could be back on the calendar from 2014 when a new track near the capital Buenos Aires is completed.

Friday marked a ground-breaking ceremony of the 4.7 kms Velociudad Speedcity circuit in Zarate which designer Populous says will be capable of returning F1 to the South American country.

The USD 100 million project will be completed in two phases and will include south America`s first driver trainer centre and academy. The first phase, a 3.1 kms track, 4x4 off-road circuit and team garages, is scheduled to be completed in 14 months.


The second phase will extend the track to its full length, making it eligible for an FIA license.

"We are really proud to contribute with our design to create a new destination for F1, which always means an economic catalyst for the area and produces global exposure," John Rhodes, Associate Principal of Populous, said in a statement.

"During the last five years we have developed technology, software, and design techniques through the use of simulation to physically test the design of a circuit. These pioneering techniques have enabled the creation of a topographically exciting and challenging medium-speed circuit on what was a relatively square and flat 63 hectare site."

South America`s only other F1 track is Interlagos in Brazil which hosted the final race of the 2011 season last month.

Populous are also responsible for the recent re-design of British Grand Prix venue Silverstone and are involved in designing a new F1 track in Mumbai.

The design firm also planned the London 2012 Olympics Stadium and the Soccer City stadium which hosted last year`s World Cup final in South Africa.

Jedno pitanjce , pošto je 2006.potpisan sporazum koji ističe ove godine što se tiče reklamiranja duhanskih proizvoda , je moguće da na sljedece sezone naletim na marlboro na Ferrariju ?

jednostavno ne. Problem je EU i još neke zemlje koje ne dopuštaju da se ikako reklamira duhanske proizvode. To vrijedi i za televizijske prijenose, pa makar bolid bio u Indiji npr.

Bit će vjerojatno sponzor, a reklama jedino ne smije biti eksplicitna kak mi se čini.

Pa Marlboro je i sada sponzor pa ga nemaju na bolidu. Čak su morali i prije početka sezone mijenjati ime ekipe iz "Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro" u "Scuderia Ferrari". Isto tako su 2010. morali maknuti onaj barkod sa bolida (koji je inače služio kao neka prikrivena reklama za Marlboro) jer je aludirao na reklamiranje duhanskih proizvoda.

kako ne vidis da su nakon ukidanja barcoda "ujedinili" logove? marlboro promjenio dizajn kutija da naglasi logo nezavrsenog trokutica..

Istina, ali nitko ih ne može tužiti (Ferrarija) da reklamiraju Marlboro. Zašto? Zato jer je to logo momčadi. Barkod su mogli tužiti jer su ga koristile i ostale ekipe kojima je Marlboro bio sponzor (Ducati u Moto GP npr.). Sada je to logo Ferrarijeve F1 momčadi i nikog drugog i kao takvo to je sada legalno, pa makar svi znaju da je to zapravo reklama za Marlboro. zato sam napisao da nemaju logo marlbora na bolidima.

ma jasno, znamo mi to, al ne stoji da nemaju logo marlbora kad su ga implementirali u svoj i zato ja kazem da je logo marlbora i dalje na bolidu
skriven i zakonski legitiman, al ja ga svaki dan gledam na kutiji tako da je uzajamna reklama vrlo snazna, jer jedno asocira na drugo..

The FIA, motorsport's ruling body, has issued a clarification about the defensive moves allowed in Formula 1 from the 2012 season.

The governing body had stated at the end of last year that, from the upcoming season, drivers would not be allowed to move back onto the racing line after having moved off it to defend their position.

On Wednesday, the FIA issued the new sporting rules, which state that drivers will in fact be allowed to move back onto the racing line, but leaving enough room between their car and the edge of the track when approaching corners.

The ruling body insisted just one move will be allowed to defend a position from a rival.

"More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner," the new regulation states.

The FIA has also clarified the rule stating that all lapped cars will be allowed to unlap themselves and then join at the back of the field during safety car periods.

"If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message "LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE" is shown on the timing monitors, any cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car," the rules state.

"This will only apply to cars that were lapped at the time they crossed the Line at the end of the lap during which they crossed the first Safety Car line for the second time after the safety car was deployed.

"Having overtaken the cars on the lead lap and the safety car these cars should then proceed around the track at an appropriate speed, without overtaking, and take up position at the back of the line of cars behind the safety car. Whilst they are overtaking, and in order to ensure this may be carried out safely, the cars on the lead lap must always stay on the racing line unless deviating from it is unavoidable.

"If the clerk of the course considers track conditions are unsuitable for overtaking the message "OVERTAKING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED" will be shown on the timing monitors.
